: Over the Road Driver
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for operating various tractor-trailer combinations (53ft, 48ft, 28ft, Doubles, and Triples) for extended periods of time, over long distances between company/customer facilities, manufacturing plants, and drop yards to pick up, transport and deliver freight in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
2. Maneuver tractor-trailer in tight spaces, dropping and hooking, operating landing gear, and backing into shipping /unloading docks and confined spaces.
3. Perform tractor and trailer inspections and complete all required paperwork to include the Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVCRs) daily.
4. Abide by all laws pertaining to the Hours of Service Regulations and be able to maintain a driver’s log.
5. Abide by all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).
6. Carry out instructions given orally and in writing, including those on manifest, bills of lading and other shipping documents to determine the location and time of delivery.
7. Communicate with Dispatch / Operations frequently, in order to advise of movements, problems with equipment, delays, accidents, and to receive future assignments and schedule.
8. When necessary perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
1. Must be 23 years or older
2. Posses a CDL Class A License from one state only.
3. Minimum of 3 years full-time verifiable like type vehicle including tractor-trailer.
4. Pass a Drug Test – No Positive Drug or Alcohol Test.
5. Pass pre-employment background check
6. Work in outdoor environment.
7. Must be able to climb in and out of truck cab repeatedly, sit for prolonged periods of time and occasionally stoop, bend, and crouch.
8. Will be able to stay out overnight when required.
9. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs and be able to unload and load product as required by customer.
10. Must be able to pass a road test and perform all safety functions per the Federal Motor Carrier Guidelines.
11. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language sufficiently enough to perform the designated duties.
12. Previous knowledge of the trucking industry and FMCSR a plus.
13. Ability to perform with minimal supervision.
