Technical Writer / Publication Specialist

If you join our team as a Technical Publication Specialist, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining of operations, parts and service manuals for mobile equipment and/or portable structures. RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Drafts manufacturer's manuals and other data relative to operation, maintenance, parts and service of equipment using Adobe Illustrator, Indesign, AutoCAD, Soldworks, Photo Shop, Microsoft Office and PDF Applications.
• Time directed towards creating, editing and updating: parts books, operation and maintenance manuals, service manuals and instructions for kits and service items.
• Publications must be updated in a timely manner regarding changes due to ECN’s, product updates and service requests.
• Observes production and developmental activities to determine operating procedure and detail.
• Interviews production and engineering personnel and reads journals, reports, and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.
• Must read and interpret engineering drawings, parts lists, specifications, mock-ups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail.
• Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
• Reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, and content.
• Maintains records and files of work and revisions.
• Takes photographs and creates drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
• Assists in laying out and formatting material for publication.
• Coordinates reproduction of publications for distribution.
Requirements QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree (B.S. /B.A.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and 2 years related working experience.
Strong mechanical background (heavy construction equipment preferred.)
3D and 2D CAD experience (PTC Creo/Pro-Engineer, AutoCAD or SolidWorks preferred)
Excellent communications skills, both written and oral. Must speak English.
Drafting or technical illustration experience, including knowledge of graphics file formats
Ability to effectively communicate procedures, specifications and general machine data to target audience.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Indesign, AutoCAD, Soldworks, Photo Shop, Microsoft Office and PDF Applications.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision; Strong orientation toward quality and continuous improvement.
Digital photography experience (composition, editing)
