DRI’s Division of Atmospheric Sciences is seeking a full-time Field Tech I/II to work at its Stead Weather Modification Technical facility at the Reno-Stead airport, NV.
Specific job functions include but are not limited to:
• Fabrication of generator components using MIG welders, horizontal/vertical band saws, drill press, grinders, sanders and hand tools while following schematics, notes and verbal instruction.
• Testing, troubleshooting and repairing generator system failures while under supervision.
• Updating Campbell Scientific, Inc. (CSI) generator operating programs using CRBasic and Edlog.
• Participate in field trips remote sites located in and outside of Nevada. These field trips may involve operation of heavily loaded 4x4 trucks towing heavy trailers on rough, off-road terrain, and/or safe operation of snowmobiles into remote, high altitude field sites.
To succeed in this role, you’ll be required to possess:
• High school diploma/GED.
• Completion of a technical training program OR equivalent combination of education/experience in computer programming.
• Basic to extensive experience (2 or 4 years) with hand tools , metal fabrications tools, welding and machine shop tools
• Experience with CSI or similar data loggers, and field installation.
• Experience operating off-road vehicles (trucks, snowmobiles, quads preferred), and towing a trailer while driving a vehicle in off-road conditions.
• Valid driver’s license from any U.S. state/territory. Safe driving record and no moving violations preferred.
