Requirements:
- 5-7 years of experience performing maintenance on fuel distribution systems and equipment
- Must be willing and able to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen
- Must be willing and able to commute/travel to various military bases (home most weekends)
Responsibilities:
Fuel Distribution System Mechanics maintain, repair, and inspect liquid fuel storage, distribution, and dispensing systems.
- Maintain and repair fuel storage, distribution, and dispensing systems using hand and power tools and testing instruments
- Inspect fuel receiving, storage, and distribution facilities to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings, and malfunction of mechanical units, meters, and gauges (such as distribution lines, float gauges, piping valves, pumps, and roof sumps)
- Inspect electrical wiring, switches, and controls for safe-operating conditions, grounding, and adjustment
- Lubricate and repack valves, pumps, replace gaskets, seals and correct pumping equipment misalignment, and clean strainers and filters
- Service water separators, and check meters for correct delivery and calibration
- Overhaul system components such as pressure regulating valves and excess valves; disassemble, adjust, align, and calibrate gauges and meters or replace them
- Remove and install equipment such as filters and piping to modify system or repair and replace system components
- Clean fuel tanks and distribution lines, remove corrosion and repaint surfaces, overhaul vacuum and pressure vents, floating roof seals, hangers, and roof sumps; and maintain record of inspections and repairs
