Description:
The Maintenance Technician position is primarily responsible for the proper operation of the Packaging and Formulation Departments controls and automation systems. The Maintenance Technician is required to provide technical support to the maintenance groups as well as to project engineers and facilitators working on a wide variety of packaging/formulation related capital projects.
Major Responsibilities:
* Troubleshooting operational problems with packaging/formulation related equipment and other control systems.
* Define PLC input and output requirements for production equipment.
*Develop, test and install HMI control systems to support production projects
*Upgrade obsolete control systems to meet the sites automation standards.
* Write and edit PLC programs. Install and test programs as required.
* Prepare software documentation to support validation work.
* Provide technical support for all phases of equipment and system validation.
* Review and assess electrical drawings associated with new equipment procurement.
* Assist engineering personnel with the development of project specifications and requirements for new equipment.
* Act as technical liaison to contractor personnel who are performing activities on Site.
* Support the site's capital program by participating in the design, review installation and qualifying activities associated with capital projects.
* Support the compliance needs of the site by completing, and assisting others with any required Change Control Documentation associated with Safety, Health, and Environmental or cGMP issues.
* Write and follow SOPs for the maintenance and the technicians group
* Support Maintenance Mechanics with technical support as needed
*Train mechanics and technicians on new control systems and equipment
Minimum Qualifications:
* A High School Diploma or G.E.D.
* Completion of a state accredited Journeyman or technical school program, or equivalent formal education and field experience, demonstrating commensurate proficiency in electrical/electronic/instrumentation maintenance.
* Thorough familiarity with the analysis and repair of electronic and electrical control systems.
* Understanding of concepts used in control system design and elementary programming is required.
* Ten (10) years of maintenance experience or an Associate's Degree in a technical discipline and five (5) years of maintenance experience.
* Strong organization, decision-making, judgment, and team-oriented skills are essential to manage multiple projects of variable complexity.
* Solid interpersonal skills are required in order to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization in various functional areas.
* Must possess strong written communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Requirements:
* Familiarity with packaging/formulation equipment and electrical controls.
* Successful completion of a post secondary education program in electrical/electronic/instrumentation.
* Demonstrated experience in a government regulated industry such as pharmaceutical, nuclear or aviation.
*Professional training certification in a PLC/HMI platform.
* SAP R3 work order utilization and process knowledge
Specialized Knowledge:
Strong background in mathematics and computer applications to include database management software and PLC operations.
Internal and External Contacts/Customers:
This position will attend and participate in project meetings and other meetings with various plant personnel (usually up to the department head level), as needed relating to Engineering Issues. The Technician will interact with vendors, factory representatives, outside engineering firms and technical resources for control equipment.
