The Power Plant Operator operates, repairs, troubleshoots, and maintains all physical plant and HVAC equipment in compliance with all department procedures and policies, and all applicable compliance, safety, federal, state and local regulations. Completes all assigned critical and routine equipment preventative maintenance by utilizing approved procedures, department policies, and manufacturer‘s specifications. Identifies potential problems and takes appropriate action to resolve problems and minimize damage to equipment. Also documents equipment readings and activities as required, completes boiler and chiller water chemistry, and maintains the plant in a clean, organized and safe condition.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Trade school graduate or completion of an approved trade apprenticeship program in commercial heating/ventilation/air conditioning and building management controls. Connecticut Operating Engineer OE-2 , S or D license preferred. Ideal person must successfully obtain OE-2 license within 1 year of employment.
EXPERIENCE: 2+ years of experience in a comparable field, preferably in a healthcare environment or power plant. You must be mechanically inclined to perform the necessary work. You must be personal computer literate.
HOURS: Rotating Shifts- Varies from days, evenings, nights on any day of the week. Weekends & some Holidays.
