Position:
OEDIT is seeking a strong accountant who as the only accountant in the agency will provide accounting expertise and guidance to the OEDIT staff. The accountant will take the lead in solving accounting issues and questions. In addition the accountant will provide financial reports and analyses needed by program staff to meet their financial program requirements. This position will work closely with the Governor’s Controller, the OEDIT accounting technician and budget manager as well as other state agencies so collaboration is critical and an excellent team player is a must.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform full range of accounting functions for OEDIT in accordance with GAAP, GASB, State Fiscal Rules and Statutes and State Policies and Procedures. Responsibilities include:
o Annual Responsibilities
Reconcile all appropriations and record appropriations correctly per statute
Record year-end accruals
Review and correct all diagnostic reports
Work with OEDIT staff to answer questions and help solve problems
Research accounts and other questions
Assist with annual external budget schedules
Ensure all year end entries and processes are followed and deadlines met as established by the State Controller’s Office
Clear prepaid, accruals, deferred accounts and clearing accounts after year end close
Update OEDIT chart of accounts
Assist Budget Manager in annual internal budget creation
Assist state auditors for OEDIT audits by providing requested documentation
Reconcile grants and end of grant period.
o Daily/Monthly/Quarterly Responsibilities
Analyze and clear diagnostic reports daily or monthly at a minimum
Review and approve payables and purchase order entries
Reconcile accounts as appropriate on a monthly basis
Set up grants correctly in the grant module and process the grant draw process.
Monitor grants monthly
Ensure all cash receipts are processed within a week from receipt
Monitor transactions to ensure documents are processed timely
Prepare and process journal vouchers as required and in a timely manner and ensure proper documentation is attached.
Required Education, Knowledge, and Skills:
• BA/BS degree in Accounting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and GASP preferred
• Minimum 5 years accounting experience working for government, larger corporation, or accounting firm.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel; Google Mail,
• Detail Oriented
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Positive attitude and great team player
