Independently coordinates, develops, and implements a transportation demand plan and a transportation capacity plan. Responsible for creating network models that show the transportation mode and freight capacity requirements for all the product flow volumes and delivery requirements at an established level. Identifies the optimal carrier base and determines routing/scheduling. Uses analytical and quantitative methods to understand, predict, and enhance logistics processes. Responsible for assembling data, analyzing performance, identifying problems and developing recommendations which support the management of logistics for the Plant operations.
Responsible for the flow of materials in and out of the Plant operations as well as the functions of cycle counting including inventory accuracy. Works with U.S. contract manufacturers to optimize freight systems to be in sync with CPI. Delegates assigned tasks to immediate subordinates and coordinates assignments to maintain workflow. Directs subordinates on department needs and evaluates performance. Assures conformance against established objectives. Accountable for quality and quantity of work produced within the shipping & receiving department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Competencies:
• 4 year/2 year degree and/or Equivalent and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in logistics/transportation management or equivalency.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Continuous Improvement equivalent certification preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of past supervision and/or proven leadership experience.
• A self starter with the ability to work in a team environment and foster cross-functional collaboration at all organizational levels.
• Computer skills (MS office, ERP, custom logistics shipping software, etc.).
• A thorough understanding of transportation tariff pricing structures by mode.
• Knowledge of Transportation Management System Software (MercuryGate, MercuryEdge, and MOJO).
• Excellent organizational and communication (written and oral) skills.
