Banquet Manager Position
The California Center for the Arts, Escondido is looking for an experienced, high-energy Banquet Manager to direct, coordinate, staff, organize, and manage corporate gatherings, weddings, quinceñeras and other special life events in our full-service conference center.
Key responsibilities for the Banquet Manager include:
• Working closely with the culinary, catering, and event service teams to ensure flow of service
• Scheduling banquet staff to serve at scheduled events.
• Serving as the client’s main contact during the event.
• Overseeing compliance with health and safety standards.
• Resolving guest problems and/or concerns.
• Arranging for facilities and equipment
• Communicating client needs to appropriate personnel.
• Supervising the set-up of function rooms to include placement of linens, silver, china, and glassware according to the event order specifications.
• Inspecting function rooms and equipment prior to the functions for cleanliness, proper inventory, and set up.
• Developing and maintaining banquet accounts by ensuring customer satisfaction before, during, and after the event.
Job Requirements:
• 2 or more years of banquet / conference set up and banquet bar experience
• Previous Banquet Captain, supervisory or management experience
• Proven ability to effectively hire, supervise, direct, and motivate staff.
• Knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and customer service.
• Attention to detail, speed
• Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, professional manner.
• Ability to communicate clearly. Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Willing and able to work a varied schedule that will include mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends.
• Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
Starting salary $40,000 to $50,000 commensurate with experience.
