SUMMARY:
Completes construction projects by planning, organizing, and controlling the all aspects of construction for multiple projects (6 to 10 annually). Responsible for completing quality inspections, supervising GCs and sub-contractors and ensuring budget and specifications are within scope.
JOB DUTIES:
• Communicating project expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending pay application actions; adhering to policies and procedures.
• Manages sub-contractors by locating, evaluating, and selecting GCs and sub-contractors; monitoring and controlling performance.
• Meets operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying construction management system improvements.
• Meets construction budget by monitoring project expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions; providing non-project annual operating and capital budget information.
• Accomplishes construction project results by defining project purpose and scope; calculating resources required; establishing standards and protocols; allocating resources; scheduling and coordinating staff and sub-contractors; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems; evaluating and implementing change orders.
• Approves construction progress by conducting inspections at critical phases; obtaining approvals from VP of Development and others on the ISHC Executive Team.
• Prevents fines and project interruptions by complying with, and enforcing, codes.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
• Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging construction practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
• Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Four-year college degree required - Engineering and/or Architecture preferred
• Contractor’s License preferred
• 10 to 15 years of experience in Construction Project and Quality Management, Managing Profitability, Estimating and Supply Management.
• Extensive civil engineering experience including but not limited to:
o Public Utilities
o Sewers
o Parking lots
o Asphalt
o Permit application and Code compliance
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously ($1M+)
• Hospitality construction background beneficial
• Awareness and ability to communicate effectively with contractors, superintendents, etc.
• Understanding of California State/County construction regulations and ADA requirements
• Software experience with cloud-based programs and applications, such as SmartSheet, BaseCamp project management and procurement software
• CAD experience a plus
• Advanced skill level with MS Office Suite and MS Project - Expertise with MS Excel is a must
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
• Personal vehicle is required, and travel reimbursement provided.
• Travel approximately 40%
