Federal Correctional Facility located in Terre Haute Indiana

General Practitioner (Medical Officer) provide specialized medical services to outpatients and provide medical care to inpatients in institutions with an inpatient mission. Duties are carried out in accordance with current accepted medical practices and procedures. Along with all other correctional institution employees, the Medical Officer is charged with responsibility for maintaining the security of the institution.
Duties involve all aspects of health care delivery. These duties may include:
- Working in concert with both institution staff and consultant specialists in various clinical areas
- Performing complete physical examinations
- Collecting comprehensive medical and social history to include a review of all body systems
- Performing physical assessment in correlation with historical findings, records preliminary objective findings
- Examining and ordering appropriate diagnostic testing and provides necessary treatment and/or medications as required
- Referring selected cases to consultant specialists when necessary
- Referring inmates requiring hospitalization to a community hospital and to an appropriate admitting physician
- Making rounds on inmates admitted to his/her care (for institutions with inpatient beds)
- Seeing inmate patients who are in locked status in their designated housing area or housed in segregation units
Must Be Licensed in the USA, Must have a current Active DEA -Prescription License
Must be able to provide a copy of Medical Degree
Must be able to provide a copy of License Registration
Must have a Malpractice policy for Individual coverage in Place
This is a Contract Job Placement for 1,820 Hours a Year
