Seeking an Industrial Mechanic experienced in the installation, dismantling, repairs, reassembly, and maintenance of machinery in direct support of the United States Naval Air Station Test Site contract team working at Joint Base McGuire/Dix/Lakehurst, New Jersey.
Perform the following duties with safety and precision: Knowledge of (or be able to gain knowledge of) the operation, maintenance, overhaul of steam catapults, arresting gear, jet blast deflectors, as well as ability to work on developmental ALRE hardware such as Electro-Magnetic Aircraft Launch Systems (EMALS) and Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG).
Tasking delineated as follows:
- Work along with other workers during Test Site operations.
- Demonstrate proper work methods.
- Installation, overhaul and maintenance of ALRE and SE systems.
- Set the pace in accomplishing assigned tasks within the time frame allowed.
- Read plans and blueprints; gather all necessary materials and tools to accomplish assigned efforts.
- Advise other workers on team to follow supervisor/master scheduler instructions to meet deadlines.
- Assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
- Report to the supervisor and team leader on status and progress of work, and causes of work delays.
- Answer questions of supervisor/ team leader on overall work operations and problems.
- Anticipate problems and make recommendations for their solution.
- Provide labor hours & material requirement estimates for ALRE/SE prototype manufacture and installations.
- Perform and/or assist in jobs normally assigned to other trades.
Qualifications, Experience & Special Requirements:
- 2 years’ experience performing duties/responsibilities on tasks/similar equipment, typically acquired with military service as Aviation Boatswains Mate Equip (ABE).
- Be totally familiar with operational procedures & safety factors relating to all equipment in use.
- Hold a current Security Clearance or be able to obtain Secret clearance.
- Meet Physical requirements that include (but are not limited to) ability to lift 50+ lbs., pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching. Work to be performed inside and outside and in hazardous areas requiring personal protective equipment (i.e., hand, eye and foot protection).
- Applicant must be able to obtain a satisfactory annual physical equivalent to that given for a CDL driver’s license, as well as satisfactory annual hearing test and eye examination.
Nature of Work: Government contractor; FT/40hr/wk Flex with alt Fri. off; Overtime as required.
Salary: Determined by current Department of Labor Wage Determination Standards for this location.
