Nano Precision Medical is an early-stage start-up company located in Emeryville, CA. We are developing a small, implantable device to improve treatment for people suffering from chronic diseases by providing sustained medication levels over several months without the need for injections.
Job Description:
We are looking for a hands-on, experienced scientist with a background in peptide and protein analysis and formulation development. This person will be responsible for further analytical method development for our lead exenatide program, and for supporting efforts in the development of peptide formulations with long-term in vivo stability.
Good communication skills and the ability to work with a team of scientists and engineers with diverse backgrounds are required for this position.
At least 10 years of experience working in a relevant scientific environment is preferred. Industry experience is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Performing analytical assays in support of all activities in the Pharmaceutical Development group.
- Further developing existing analytical methods and expanding the array of analytical techniques necessary for development of our lead exenatide product.
- Bringing selected analytical methods to a level ready for validation, and communicating with external contract labs for method validation for GLP and GMP activities.
- Educating other team members about use and application of analytical methods and equipment.
- Supporting the development of formulations with long term in vivo stability for our lead exenatide product.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Master’s Degree with additional research experience
- 5 – 10+ years of work experience, industry background preferred
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Necessary skills:
- High level of proven proficiency with protein or peptide analytical methods such as HPLC, SEC, LC-MS, etc.
- Forward looking skills in determining a battery of tests that will be required to support a product development program.
- Ability to develop new methods as well as perform routine assays in a more controlled environment.
- Self-starter with ability to work autonomously
- Familiarity with day-to-day operations and maintenance in an analytical department.
- Meticulous lab skills and record keeping, excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and educational skills
- Flexibility, preparedness to adjust to rapidly developing priorities and carry multiple responsibilities in a start-up environment
- Comfortable working in a close-knit team
- Computer proficiency
Desired skills:
- Familiarity with validating analytical methods.
- Experience with GLP studies.
- Team management and mentoring junior researchers.
- Experience with large amounts of analytical data and automated data processing tools
