SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES
Drive various vehicles to transport customers over specified routes to local or distant points according to customer manifest. Provide first class customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Pre-Trip Vehicle before departing to make sure all equipment is working
- Ensure the vehicle’s exterior and interior is clean
- Map out destination route and/or enter into GPS system
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to pick up time
- Inform dispatch of your status
- Handle luggage for the customer, if applicable, and open doors
- Ensure passenger safety at all times
- Follow all safety guidelines while driving including obeying traffic lights, stop signs and following the posted speed limit
- Report accidents immediately and follow procedures listed in the accident policy
- Report any mechanical failures or repairs to the vehicle on the Driver Daily Inspection Sheet
- Fill gas tank upon returning to base
QUALIFICATIONS
Company is willing to train, if applicant meets all other qualifications.
- Requires pleasant and professional conduct at all times.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
- The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person that it is understandable to a listener
- Knowledgeable of the Washington Metropolitan area streets, highways and state roads.
- Professional suit and tie dress code required at all times
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record and background check.
- Ability to read a map or GPS device
- 31C Chauffeurs license, preferred; but not required.
- Veterans Administration will reimburse for associated fees to obtain this license. Must be a DC resident to apply.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to operate a vehicle carrying 9 passengers or less such as a sedan, SUV or limousine
- Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to read and interpret all traffic device instructions such as traffic devices and signs
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- The ability to coordinate movements of two or more limbs together (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing. It does not involve performing the activities while the body is in motion
- The ability to choose quickly and correctly between two or more movements in response to two or more signals (lights, sounds, pictures, etc.). It includes the speed with which the correct response is started with the hand, foot, or other body parts
- The ability to efficiently shift back and forth between two or more activities or sources of information (such as speech, sounds, touch, or other sources)
- The ability to see under low light, glare or bright lighting conditions
- The ability to see details at a distance or at close range
- The ability to tell the direction from which a sound originated, such as an emergency vehicle.
The ability to concentrate and not be distracted while performing a task over a period of time
